Things to Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: June 7-9 (2024)

1. Tosa Greek Fest

ALL WEEKEND | 2160 N. WAUWATOSA AVE.

Jump into Greek culture at this year’s Tosa Greek Fest, featuring Greek food and a Greek live band. Enjoy lamb, chicken, souvlaki, gyros, loukoumades, saganaki, Greek pastries and more. The free event will be held at Sts Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, and will go on all weekend long.

2. James and the Giant Peach

ALL WEEKEND | NEXT ACT THEATRE, 255 S. WATER ST.

Bombshell Theatre Company’s performance of James and the Giant Peach will take place at Next Act Theatre this weekend in five showings. This adaptation of Roald Dahl’s adventure-filled classic is a fun and engaging show for the whole family. Tickets for the shows can be purchased ahead of time on Next Act Theatre’s website.

ALL WEEKEND | BRADLEY SYMPHONY CENTER

Music Director Ken-David Masur joins Artistic Partner Dashon Burton and the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus for this creative combination of two dozen poems. The symphony deals with themes of lust, gambling, drinking and the fickle hand of fortune. Tickets for the three shows can be purchased ahead of time on the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra website.

4. Rev 7 Conference 2024

ALL WEEKEND | DOUBLETREE MILWAUKEE

Connect with participants from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds in learning the value of authenticity, diversity and community. This conference encourages attendees to challenge themselves by engaging in discussions, activities and workshops in order to grow together. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time on the website.

5. Bike Week Station

FRIDAY FROM 7:30-10 A.M. | DISCOVERY WORLD

To celebrate Wisconsin Bike Week, Discovery World is hosting a commuter station with refreshments and a chance to enter a giveaway. Enjoy views of the lakefront while taking a break at the booth. This event is in collaboration with Friends of Lakeshore State Park.

6. ‘Lest We Forget’ New Exhibit Opening

FRIDAY AT 10 A.M. | WAR MEMORIAL CENTER

As the world commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day this Thursday, the War Memorial Center is opening its second permanent exhibit “Lest We Forget” to remember Wisconsin POW/MIA. The grand opening is free for all to attend.

7. Home Grown: Cultivado Aqui

FRIDAY FROM 10:30 A.M.-7:30 P.M. | LATINO ARTS, 1028 S. 9TH ST.

Friday is the last day to see “Home Grown” at Latino Arts. This exhibit celebrates the next generation of creative individuals blazing a path not only in the local arts scene but also on a national level. Artists attended UCC’s Bruce-Guadalupe Community School in their primary and middle school years.

8. Family Hands-On Art at RAM

FRIDAY FROM 4-7 P.M. | RACINE ART MUSEUM, 441 MAIN ST.

Join the Racine Art Museum for its first family hands-on art event of the summer! Attendees will take inspiration from Randall Darwall and Gustavo Pérez’s work at the museum and create their own pencil pinwheels inspired by the colors and patterns of their pieces. This event is fun for the whole family, and museum admission is free during the event.

9. Food Truck Friday

FRIDAY FROM 5-8 P.M. | WEST ALLIS FARMERS MARKET, 6501 W. NATIONAL AVE.

Head over to the West Allis Farmers Market for its first Friday Food Truck of the season. This Friday’s lineup will include 21 food trucks and vendors, music from Scott Kirby, a mini art market and a visit from the West Allis Public Library. Attendees can also enjoy craft beers from Perspective Brewing and OPE! Brewing Co.

10. Milwaukee PrideFest

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | HENRY MAIER FESTIVAL PARK

PrideFest is returning to Henry Maier Festival Park to kick off this year’s Pride Month. Live performers, food, vendors and more will be there to celebrate.Tickets can be purchased ahead of the event on the event website or at the ticket box on festival grounds.

11. Art64

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | THE VILLAGE OF WAUWATOSA, 7725 W. NORTH AVE.

The largest bracket-style live painting tournament in the Midwest is coming back to the Village of Wauwatosa for the third year. Sign-ups for participants in the tournament are live on the Art64 website, with the grand prize of $20,000 as incentive. Spectators are encouraged to come and experience the art as well as the restaurants and shops in the area.

12. Wear Orange 2024

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | SAFE AND SOUND, 4422 W. LEON TERRACE

Support Gun Violence Prevention Weekend in Milwaukee at the Wear Orange 2024 event, put on by Wisconsin’s Anti-Violence Effort. A candlelight vigil will be held on Friday at 6 p.m., and a press conference and peace walk will be held on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. to raise awareness and build a community of survivors and advocates. Refreshments will be provided during Saturday’s peace walk.

13. Ride with Pride 2024

SATURDAY AT 10:30 A.M. | HARLEY-DAVIDSON MUSEUM

All motorcycles and riders are invited to the world’s largest LGBTQ+ motorcycle ride in support of this year’s pride month. Police escorts will clear a path for the route through Milwaukee, which will be announced closer to the event date. Arrive for the event at 10:30 a.m., and the ride is set to begin at noon.

14. Hip Hop DNA

SATURDAY AT 7 P.M. | DELAWARE HOUSE

If you’re looking for an uplifting evening of music and dance, check this out. The performance features rappers and dancers in their teens and younger, collaborating with established Milwaukee artists and performers. Tickets range from $10-50. Reserve your seats ahead of time at the link on the Facebook event page.

15. Traveling Beer Gardens Weekends

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY FROM 11 A.M.-9 P.M. | FROEMMING PARK, 8801 S. 51ST ST.

Enjoy a brew or two at The Traveling Beer Garden, operated by Milwaukee County Parks. Sunday is the last day to support Milwaukee County Parks through this event. The Traveling Beer Garden tour features Sprecher craft beer, hard ciders, gourmet sodas, and options from Third Space, New Glarus and 3 Sheeps Breweries, as well as other refreshments and food items.

16. Flores de Verano

SUNDAY FROM NOON-6 P.M. | ZOCALO FOOD PARK, 636 S. 6TH ST.

The Flores de Verano celebration promises event-goers a colorful array of experiences, sounds and flavors that get you in the Latin spirit. The event includes dancing, a Latina market, cultural activities, a DJ and a wide variety of vendors. This event is free and family-friendly, and all are welcome to come celebrate.

17. Locust Street Festival

SUNDAY FROM NOON-8 P.M. | LOCUST STREET, BETWEEN HOLTON AND HUMBOLDT

Celebrate the 45th annual Locust Street Festival with six live music stages, local vendors, artists, food and beer. The event will also include the Locust Street Beer Run by Lakefront Brewery starting at 11:30 a.m. Admission to the festival is free, but sign-ups for the beer run can be found on the website.

18. Pride Block Party

SUNDAY FROM NOON-10 P.M. | 120 W. NATIONAL AVE.

DIX and Fat Daddy’s in Walker’s Point are kicking off Pride Month with a block party.The event is free to attend and is set to include a wide variety of drinks and entertainment, including the Fat DIX Variety Drag Show.

19. Milwaukee Pride Parade

SUNDAY FROM 2-5 P.M. | 2ND STREET IN WALKER’S POINT

Celebrate Pride Month Milwaukee-style with the city’s only pride parade. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, this parade will include floats following the theme “Respecting our Past, Honoring our Future.” The parade will begin at Scott Street and end at Seeboth Street. Milwaukee Magazine staff will be marching in the parade, so say “hi” if you see us!
