This position will work a hybrid schedule which is a combination of working on Campus and remote.
The HR Support Team Specialist is responsible for first-line HR support for all UC San Diego employees. This position will respond and resolve tier 1 phone and case inquiries from employees, managers, and other human resources (HR) professionals regarding the full suite of Campus HR services, including but not limited to HR policy, payroll, benefits, leave administration, HR systems and other matters that occur during the employment life cycle. The mission of the Human Resources Support team is to deliver exceptional customer service in a timely and accurate manner. The team works in an environment that uses a case management system, email, walk-up and telephonic communications to resolve issues and inquiries with sensitivity, compassion and discretion. Given the nature of the role, the incumbent can expect frequent interruptions while responding to written case inquiries and being available for calls.
This role demands strong analytical skills to evaluate and address complex issues, along with the ability to anticipate potential follow-up questions when providing solutions. Clear, service-oriented communication skills are crucial for interacting with customers via email, telephone, and in-person channels. The HR Support Team Specialists closely coordinate with the Front Desk Team of Campus HR and offer escalation support as needed. Additionally, the incumbent must adeptly escalate inquiries to other subject matter expert (SME) areas within HR, leveraging knowledge of the department's organizational structure. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining processes, documenting these processes, and consolidating knowledge for this evolving team.
- This position is hybrid with an anticipated onsite requirement of two days per week.
Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Has working knowledge of other areas of HR. Ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolution(s) that may require creativity or an "out of the box" approach.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $61,800 - $108,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $29.60 - $51.72
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
